Young Musicians Unite provides free, consistent music programming to underserved communities in Miami. Through peer to peer mentoring, YMU engages students of different backgrounds and brings them together through a shared passion for music. By collaborating with schools to bring music programming to students, YMU addresses education gaps to develop leaders, boost personal development and inspire self-confidence.

What We Do

Under the leadership of Sammy Gonzalez, YMU engages youth from at-risk communities and provides them with comprehensive music programming. Students participating in YMU can join a guitar ensemble, jazz ensemble/combo, rock ensemble or drum line. YMU will be offering 13 music programs in 6 different schools; expanding enrollment to 240+ students this 2017-2018

Classes are led by professional teachers from New World School of the Arts, UM, FIU & Juilliard. Peer to peer mentors and visiting guest musicians provide supplemental aid. Without exception, all of the equipment, music, performance and teaching fees are waived for our students.
